Using up leftovers.....

Back in June, I showed you my new crochet hexagon bathmat. I had a good deal of the cotton yarn leftover. I needed to make a gift for a friend so I used some of the yarn to make these...

Three cotton dishcloths...

But I still had a good bit leftover and did not want to have to store it so I made these odd dishcloths for myself. Since they were for me, I could play a bit and experiment...

In the end, I had enough only for a small round dishcloth and my mother told me to use it under my handsoap at the sink. But I use a pump with liquid soap...still it looked really nice to have this as a doily under the pump...

  1. that is what I use too, Silly Sally. It looks nice. Mine is sitting on one that Haali made for me. That round one you made looks just like a doily your Gramma made for me only using Crochet cotton thread. Kristy calls them thread doilies.
It looks like you used her pattern and I know you didn't. Strangeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Very good use of your scrap yarn.
    Love you, Mom

  2. I love to use up all the last bits and ends too. You did a great job!

  3. That was a great idea-just right. You are so thrifty minded.

  4. Great way to use up the leftover wool Heidi

  5. I'm busy catching up on my blog reading - and I'd missed some womderful posts! I especially love Niamh, hmmmm might steal that design - it's wonderful! Fabulous crocheting and quilting, as ever. I hope your return visit to the doctors went OK. Hugs, Jo x

  6. I love your washcloths Heidi! I too have been making some and they are so much fun to give as gifts. I also love using them in the kitchen...I will never go back to sponges or store bought ones...grins...The quilting bug has bitten me I am busy handquilting 2 quilts at the moment. Here is a hug from CA.
