One a Day Project - Tuesday's Tallies

Why is it that a week passes so quickly when you are having fun??? My one a day projects are growing in more ways than one. I have found this is really working well to help me work a little on a number of projects which means I am going to have 4 things done much sooner since I am committing myself to one a day on each...

Last week, I showed you my 35 African flower hexies. I decided I better stop and spend a week joining as I crocheted the last edge on them. My blanket is growing nicely. I crocheted 20 of the flowers I had ready onto the blanket over the last week.

My autumn granny throw is also growing. I think I need to try taking a photo of this outdoors as the colors are still not coming across quite right. I am up to 34 squares completed so far. I want to have this finished by September 21st since that is the first day of autumn.

I was a little sneaky adding a quilt project into this one a day but it works well for me to keep it up. I have to quilt only 5 more squares and then I can start on quilting the borders. This is my advent quilt which I still promise to share more of very soon.

And if you are named Bill please look away NOW.....

*grins* My mother said she thought it would be okay to share this as my brothers do not look at my blog normally unless they are told to look. I will not share this each week though since I do not want to chance fate. I decided this year to crochet a throw for each of my brothers. I have to get them in the mail well on time so I started them now. I am making them each a granny ripple. Bill's is a beige tweed yarn mixed with aubergine. I work on this now each day when I Skype with my mother which means I get in a couple of rows each day. This is less than one week's progress. I just love this pattern as it is one you can do without really thinking about it.

  1. So many gorgeous projects all in one place, the African flower throw is so pretty. In answer to your question, I'd have thought you could crochet boot toppers, I haven't seen any patterns but may be fun to make your own up. Deb xx

  3. Hello, Heidi. I like what you have done so far. It seems your project are coming along faster this way but it may seem that way because you are working on several things together. I really like that idea-you don't get bogged down on one thing. I hope your week will be a good one. Take care!

  4. The flowers are so colorful and so pretty. It is going to be interesting to see how you end it. Bill and Eric are going to be thrilled that you are taking the time to make something for them too. What a nice sister you are. I do hear you saying though that you really want to keep it for your couch now. lol
    Bet you won't.
Keep going, you are going to have four projects finished at the same time, or close to it.
    Love you, Mom

  5. I might have a go at a crochet pair, they aren't tighter at the top, the bit that goes into the boot is the same length as front, so just tucks inside, the knit row in the centre helps them fold nicely. Let me know if you find a pattern. Deb xxx

  6. I love all of your projects Heidi and this one a day project is a great idea! The quilting bug has bitten me BIG time, after being dormant for 2 years while I cross-stitched, so I have three quilts that I am quilting. I especially love the granny ripple, do you have a pattern for that or a place where I can find one? Your quilt by the way is lovely! Here is a hug from CA.

Just kiding, I switch my projects too, but now I have a deadline to make. So one project every day, until it's finished.

  13. I love the one a day idea! Your projects are coming along so nicely. I guess I can translate that into working on a project for at least 15 minutes a day. I am working on a little fabric patchworked table runner -- currently finishing up hand stitching some lace around it. I will post it when I'm done :) Thanks for your inspiration. I just love seeing your projects!

  17. I really like the look of that advent calendar. I'm sure that your brothers will love their throws too. It's a good idea to do a little each day - shall have to try this with cross stitch as there are several things I want to do including a sampler for my DIL.

  19. Heidi, everything is (once again) stunning, but I am really drawn to that cozy autumn granny. It is the perfect snuggle companion for a rainy Dutch herftsdag. :)

  21. Your hexies are so colorfully beautiful! I adore anything with a rainbow of colors in it. You were right, of course. When I visit other gardens, I always want to change my own. I especially want to make changes after the droughts this year. I'm tired of trying to fight the dry summers. Needy plants are no longer welcome here!
